"Rock Around It All" is the first mixed media collage in my dance series that I actually used vinyl records. It was a lot of fun and each step sparked an idea for subsequent steps in this long process. The hard work paid off for this painting was juried this year into the Phillips' Mill Annual art show where only 90 pieces out of about 400 entries are accepted.
My art journey began when I was 29 and took drawing and watercolor lessons from Phyllis Rutigliano, a master watercolorist and teacher, who I am lucky to still have as a close friend and mentor. From there, I went to the Fashion Institute of Technology and received an associate's degree in fashion illustration. After 2 1/2 years of illustrating and designing children's wear, I started my own freelance advertising business while continuing my fine art education and exhibiting. Moving to beautiful Bucks County, PA in 1986 enticed me to do more en plein-air painting in addition to drawing and painting the model. Murals were also a fun way to make a living for awhile. Now, I concentrate on creating portraits: pet, people and places.
